Successor to CSE1105 CSE Project. Moved from Quarter 2 to Quarter 4. Now an entry requirement for CSE200 Software Project.

What it covers

Team-based NetNote client/server app: CRUD + Markdown rendering
Spring Boot server + JavaFX client, REST/JSON via Jackson, dependency injection
Git/GitLab workflow: merge requests, code review
Scrum-adapted process: weekly sprints, TA meetings, rotating chair/minute-taker
HCI/accessibility principles applied to the client
Optional extensions: multi-collection notebooks, file embedding, tag/inter-note linking, WebSocket real-time sync, i18n

Assessment

No exam — entirely continuous/process-based. Graded components: Personal Process (individual), Tasks and Planning (group), Code Contribution & Code Reviews (individual), Implemented Features (group), Technology (group). Must-pass pass/fail items: Code of Conduct, Effective Meeting, Constructive Feedback (AID model), Git Assignment — most repairable once. Every partial grade must be ≥5.0 and the weighted final ≥6.0. Hard knock-out minimums tracked weekly: ≥600 lines of Java added (100+ each in client and server), ≥6 merged MRs, ≥6 substantive review comments, ≥6 MR approvals — two consecutive weeks below threshold fails the course outright. No resit.

No written exam and no resit — the grade comes entirely from repo activity and process artifacts, tracked weekly.
Only a quarter of the grade is "Implemented Features" — don't over-index on features at the expense of process and reviews.
Now gates entry to CSE200 Software Project, alongside CSE11B, CSE12B, CSE13B, and an SP Bootcamp.
Older cohorts (through 2023-24) also had a product pitch and individual oral exam; that's gone as of 2024-25 in favor of pure continuous assessment — don't expect exam-style material here.
